6/11/25 - The 2028 Subtext of Newsom’s Speech - NY Times

Who didn’t know Gavin wasn't running in 2028? Anyone? Bueller?  Bueller?  

Seriously.  He’s term limited so he can’t run for a third term.  He started a ridiculous podcast, “This is Gavin Newsom,” and tried to be all buddy-buddy with MAGA.  Trump did him a favor by pulling this unconstitutional stunt in LA.  Made Governor Newsom look Presidential, not a high bar to clear in comparison, and seemed to be the unofficial kick off to the 2028 election season.  Unfortunately, for the Governor and the United States of America, there will be other candidates that will get an opportunity to look Presidential in contrast to something illegal that Trump does between now and the first primary.
